You're going the right way 🚀✨
Happy winter solstice! Happy shortest day, which means more daylight is on the way! You made it here. No matter what, that deserves a celebration. At the very least, it deserves a moment of pride.
What is it about you today that would surprise the you from one year ago? Is it a perspective you shifted? A decision you made? A thing you learned? You did all those things this year. Even if right now doesn't look how you thought it might, you are going the right way.
Not all accomplishments are monumental shifts. We focus on the big ones — relationship changes, job switches, new cities and new projects — and those all matter. But most of those big moves come from a million small things that we forget to stop and honor.
This year I have a large physical thing I worked to create. And still, the most powerful parts in it, the biggest lessons and the challenges that keep me up at night and the bits that have shown me my own strength aren't the beautiful rooms of The Assembly. They are the tiny things that make up the whole.
So on this solstice day, celebrate your progress. And then pack any of the shit that you need to leave in 2018 into a metaphorical bag and drop it off somewhere. Bye 2018 baggage! You don't need it on this 2019 trip.
If next week's holiday is going to be stressful or hard for you, I'm sorry. For me, finding at least 30 minutes a day to safe harbor for moving my body helps...even when that looks like pretending to go on a run and really just going on a walk to cry/yell/listen to a podcast. Also, always bring a book with you. You never know when a magical pocket of time to escape will open up.
Ok, and my final product recommendation of 2018 is something that has truly brought me more joy than a physical object has in a long time: this enormous 15'' wooden salad bowl. I got it for my birthday and it's beautiful. It motivates me to make giant salads. It makes people happy. It's a real crowdpleaser. Plus all of their handmade bowls are on *wild* sale right now. I truly cannot recommend a comically large wooden salad bowl enough.
Have a wonderful week. If you're around, come join one of the New Years pop ups at The Assembly. I can't wait to spend my last day of 2018 and first of 2019 sweating and smiling with all of you.
Thank you for everything you do.
xo,
Molly
